Meet at 9:45 am for a 10:00 am start
GPC Route: Morgan Territory from Heather Farm
Start Location: Walnut Creek - Heather Farm
Pre-registration

Let’s steer clear of all the Carquinez bridge drama and do a fun jaunt around Morgan Territory. If you *really* want to avoid traffic, you can take BART to Pleasant Hill which is only a half mile away from Heather Farm, just keep in mind that it’s Labor Day so the trains will be running on a holiday schedule.

We’ll have a mix of T and TM riders and will keep it friendly. No drop, so please join us!

The option to ride up Mt Diablo isn’t so appealing these days, with North Gate still closed for construction - but if anyone is feeling like adding the out-and-back on South Gate, you’re more than welcome to do so!

Bring snacks for the top of Morgan Hill (mile ~22?), and we’ll stop at Draeger’s for lunch as well (mile ~38).

Meet at 5:25 pm for a 5:30 pm start
Start Location: Sports Basement, Berkeley

Switching up the location and reducing the total climbing a bit for this one. None the less be prepared for steep climbs. The trails in Joaquin Miller park can be ridden on gravel bike but a mountain bike is recommended for less experience riders so use your own judgement about what you bring. If you know your way around you are welcome to skip the tricky parts by taking the road. Depending on time we may be riding trails in the dark so bring appropriate lights for doing so. 2050 ft total elevation gain

Meet outside of Sports Basement. Ride With GPS link poor AQI cancels at 3pm Firday

SAT SEP 23 4!/M/95 Sweetwater Springs and Geysers
Leader: Ted Ognibene     (510) 914-1065    text
Meet at 8:15 am
Start Location: Healdsburg - W. Matheson St and Vine St
Pre-registration
UPDATE:

By request, I have reversed the route so that we climb the Geysers early in the ride and from the south. The route is now this Geysers and Sweet Water Springs Reversed It looks like the AQI will be acceptable on Saturday (<150) but check for updates before you come up.

This is a repost of a ride I proposed back in June but had to cancel as it was predicted to be in the 100s that day. Now that fall is here, we can expect slightly cooler days. Meet at 8:15 and roll at 8:30. Start at the parking lot in Healdsburg - W. Matheson St and Vine St and head over to Guerneville via Sweetwater Springs then cruise north along Sonoma Valley up to Cloverdale and loop along the Geysers back to Healdsburg. Food/water stops in Guerneville at mile 20 and Cloverdale at mile 53. There isn't much after that until we get back to Healdsburg so plan accordingly. As with all GPC rides, we will have regroups. E-bikes welcome as long as you have enough battery and are willing to pull us in the wind. In light of the recent discussions in GPC-talk, properly fitted helmets are required. The route can be found here: Sweetwater Springs and the Geysers Route. Note that the RWGPS route has us starting at the Safeway on West Matheson and Vine but I will be looking for you at the parking lot listed above. Preregistration is requested so I know you are coming.

SAT SEP 23 4/TM/45.6 Double Trouble -- Two Epic Climbs in Sonoma and Napa
Leader: Terri Bimes     (510) 697-1400
Leader: Jessica Jensen     (510) 508-6389    text
Meet at 9:00 am
Pre-registration

Ready for an adventure? This ride contains not one, but two epic climbs. Cavedale is the first climb and is about five miles long, gaining about 2,000 feet; some pitches are 15% grade. Luckily, there are some flat spots that provide some relief. Mount Veeder climbs about 800 feet over 3 miles. Then there is a descent and some more climbing.

The other word of warning that qualifies this route as a true adventure is that neither Jessica nor I have ever done this ride, and we are not familiar with the area. Please bring lots of snacks, two bottles of water, patience, and an open mind. Lunch will be at Browns Valley Market in Napa.

This ride is featured on the Santa Rosa Cycling Club page as one of their ten greatest rides. They have a lengthy write-up of the ride: Description of the Mt. Veeder - Cavedale Ride

Plus they have a Mt. Veeder and Cavedale ridewithgps route

With all this information, what could go wrong?

Start will be at a parking lot behind the town plaza and the adobe army barracks. Here is the Google Map Link

Bring Jessica's and my cell phone number so that we can coordinate if the start place is not apparently clear.

Meet at 9:00 a.m. Roll at 9:15 a.m.

Miles: 45.6

Total Feet Climbing: 3,857

Epic Climb Challenge: Cavedeale -- 1,973 feet

Mount Veeder: 1,365

Hope you can join us for this epic ride!

This ride is an urban cyclocross cross event and an experience that is unique in the cycling world. Cranes, shipbuilding gantries, parks, alleys, fast roads, winding trails, buildings, twisted staircases, railroad tracks, distracting historic and bay views, jumps, bumps…

The race starts and finishes at the festival area in-front of Mare Island Brewing Co.’s Coal Shed Brewery. The historic waterfront promenade is known as the “Wet Mile”, and is lined with historic “Coal Sheds” that were once used to fuel the Navy’s steamships at the turn of the century.

Ride leader is signed up for the “Beginners Open” race. This race is for all abilities. Bring your gravel bike, MTB, or your road bike with recommended 38mm or larger tires. There will be a bike swap, food and drinks, and mostly tons of fun and laughs!

Let's celebrate Virgo Birthdays (I know two, Pat and Dolores, but there must be more). Expect cake! And let’s do one of our favorite routes, the standard version of Marshall Loop from Nicasio. Ride past the Cheese Factory and up and over the Bolinas Ridge to Marshall for lunch. The Marshall store is not open on Wednesdays so bring your lunch to eat while sitting by Tomales Bay (water is not available). Return via Highway 1 to Pt. Reyes Station for birthday treats at the Bovine before returning to Nicasio. Please print your own cue sheet, if you need it (https://www.grizz.org/routes/detail.php?id=28).

Start Location:
West Dublin Pleasanton BART

UPDATE:

This ride is on. PurpleAir shows AQI just above 100. AirNow has AQI just below 100.

This is a rescheduled ride due to unhealthy air quality on Thurs, 9/21.

I'll park in the Stoneridge Mall lot.

This route descends Sierra (as opposed to climbing) to get to our usual lunch spot (La Chingada Taqueria). Regroup in Sunol (both out & back).

Shorten the ride to about 45 miles by starting in Sunol. We should pass through there about 10:15 or so.

Please pre-register if you can. There is often a faster (more like M pace) group on this ride, but we all come back together at frequent regroups and lunch. We'll start when everyone who arrives by the meeting time is ready. If you arrive after the meeting time you may have to chase.

The Wet Mile UCX is a multi-lap (3.5 miles per lap) race through the incredible obstacles and history of Mare Island.

Pinole valley to Martinez backwards--doing Pig Farm in the morning https://ridewithgps.com/routes/44482440, (and for those who want to, Pig Farm in the afternoon too https://ridewithgps.com/routes/32130675). Let the leaders know if you want the 2 Pig Farm option. But you will be missing the Bay Trail, which is stunning in this direction. Lunch in downtown Martinez in the plaza next to Starbucks. Bring your lunch or buy in Martinez.

Forecast high in Martinez as of Sun PM is 81°F; however, it does not reach that temp until mid-afternoon. Counter clockwise direction puts the hottest part of the ride in the morning and the cooler, near the water part in the afternoon.

PLEASE Pre-register. It makes check-in much easier. If you are bringing a buddy who is not a member, you can pre-register them, and that is especially helpful.

[RideWithGPS route] The ride has evolved with RTO (Return To Office). With some people going into the office a few days per week (generally Tuesdays and Thursdays), we are moving this ride to Wednesdays.

Join us for a social mixed terrain ride. We recommend tires wider than 32mm and gearing easier than 1:1. This is a T-pace ride with some steep and rocky climbs. Due to the early sunset, we will keep regroups short. Bright lights and a jacket. Riders are welcome to peel off at any point to get in more riding or head on home. Pictures from past rides: [1][2][3] E-bikes are not allowed on this route's trails.

Meet us at the southeast corner of Cutting Avenue and the Ohlone Greenway [Google Maps street view] We have a hard roll time of 5:35pm.

We hope you will join us for a chill T-pace version of the traditional Thursday evening road ride! We'll go up Spruce to Grizzly Peak and Skyline, then turn right to head down Shepherd's Canyon and ride back through Montclair and via the Lake Temescal bike path. Lights and a jacket are recommended. We will have multiple regroups and stick to a T pace on this ride. >>This ride is a no drop ride<<

The route does include a steep (13%) 2-block section toward the end, but it's easy to avoid if anyone prefers.
