The Marin forecast is for cold and wind, so let's stay protected in the East Bay. This very hilly loop starts and ends at Summit Reservoir, but you can join us along the way wherever it suits you. We'll have a break at Golden Hills Park (mile 24) and eat lunch at Lafayette Public House (mile 31). A final stop at Sibley (mile 49). Be mindful of the road closures of Wildcat and Pinehurst if you are planning where to join and leave the group.

Here is the route on RideWithGPS.

Start Location: North Berkeley BART
Pre-registration

Please join us for the weekly South Park repeats ride. This is a short ride but with a steep climb! We’ll head up Virginia St and Spruce to Spruce/Grizzly Peak for our first regroup, then head out along Wildcat Canyon to South Park Rd. From there, we’ll climb South Park, descend, and climb it again as many times as the mood strikes us (usually two times is enough, but individual riders can shorten or lengthen the ride as desired). South Park is closed to cars starting November 1st, which makes it perfect for winter riding. If we complete two round trip ascents up South Park then back to N Berkeley Bart, expect about 2,300 feet of elevation gain. This is a great way to stay in shape over the winter!
NOTE: This is a night ride. Come with bright front and rear lights (and make sure they work). 20% chance or greater of rain cancels the ride. Please contact ride leaders with any questions.

If anyone still wants to lead a Wednesday evening ride feel free but I won't be attending. Ride ends at Headlands Brewing

Mandatory pre-registration

Join me on my traditional birthday King Ridge loop!
3 distance options/starting locations, described below.
Please be sure to preregister - if I'm not expecting anyone at a given meeting point, I will not wait there.
For 100-mile route, start/end at my home near Cotati: 5523 Henning Road (short distance from Hwy 116, plenty of parking), meet @7:45, roll @8:00am.
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/39000447

For 79-mile version, start/end in Freestone. We'll be regrouping in Freestone ca. 8:50, roll at 9:00.
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/38963426

For the 51-mile version, meet in Duncans Mills and be ready to roll ca 10:20am
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/39375366

For those riding one of the longer options we'll arrive in Duncans Mills around 9:45 where we'll have a stop at the Bakery with my Sebastopol riding buddies. Depart Duncans Mills ca 10:20am.

We will plan on finishing before sunset (6:11pm) but days are short and a mechanical or two could easily have us finishing later. So lights are mandatory.
This time of year, mornings in Sonoma County can be quite cold, and afternoons quite warm, so check the weather the morning of the ride and dress with appropriately flexible options.
Please pre-register, and let me know where you'll be starting from so I'll know to look for you at the starting points for the 2 shorter options.

How spicy do you like it? With two leaders, this local ride is designed to support climbers at different levels of fitness, ambition and/or oxygen debt. The regular version, at a humane pace, does almost 3800 cumulative feet of climbing in 38 miles, including Arlington, back side of Hillcrest, Santa Rita, Mama Bear, Happy Valley, and Toyonal. The extra-picante version does 4300 cumulative feet of climbing in 36 miles, adding North Arlington, Amend, and Lomas Cantadas. We'll regroup before the last climb to sort out who wants to ascend all the way up to the steam trains and who wants to do Toyonal-Wildcat. Rain cancels; if the weather is iffy, check here for updates or text the leaders.

Expect one short, steep descent and a challenging half-mile climb off the island (7-10% grade). Ride ends with optional food and drinks at Bay Street or Wondrous Brewing Company. Bring lights and warm layers.

El Cerrito Plaza BART

The classic route RWGPS, but with the start moved to El Cerrito Plaza. Bring warm layers and bright lights to see by. The majority of the dirt sections are up hill or flat, but expect some short bumpy descents in the dark. I'm hoping mud shouldn't be too bad with over a week to dry out, but I will make changes in case of rain. 35mm+ tires recommended.

This is a placeholder ride for planning only. The leader needs to update it with more information.

This weekly ride often tours through West Marin, but sometimes travels to Napa, Sonoma, or Livermore, depending on the season. We have frequent regroups and usually stop for a real lunch, if it is available on the route. This listing will be updated when the route and leader have been determined, usually by Monday evening. Status updates for weather cancellations will also be posted on the schedule.

There is sometimes a faster (more like M pace) group on this ride, but we all come back together at frequent regroups and lunch. Faster riders should feel free to push on after lunch. Just tell the leader first.
