Ride Schedule for August 2023
Leader: Bill Bagnell (510) 504-5401 text
Meet at 8:50 am for a 9:00 am start
Start Location: Parking Lot behind Baja Cali
Pre-registration
Ride cancelled, no one signed up. I'll be at the Olympic staging area at 09:00 on Aug 1 to meet someone and go somewhere.
PoE missed July for various reasons so I'll try again for Tuesdays in August, sore knee permitting.
For August 1 we will start in the parking lot behind Baja Cali Taqueria (23 Orinda Way, Orinda) and take Moraga Way, St Mary's Road, etc to Danville Road, Camino Tassajara and Blackhawk, return to Danville with a stop at Peet's. If we are ambitious we might add a few more miles.
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/43345244
PoE is for us older riders who can no longer do all the hills, but everyone is welcome.
I need at least one rider as my wife won't let me ride alone, so please register if you are coming.

Start Location: Nicasio
Pre-registration

Twenty years ago this was a popular August ride. Maybe it will make a comeback!
Ride start has porta potties but no water, unless you buy a bottle at the Rancho Nicasio mini-mart.
The ! exclamation point is for Wilson Hill, but it's early in the ride and by the time you get to lunch all you will remember is the view from the top.
Lunch is at Tomales Community Park (mile 28) where there are restrooms and water.
After lunch the ride continues along Tomales Bay to Pt Reyes Station or ride directly back to Nicasio.
Here is an Epic Ride Weather prediction screenshot on my google drive.
Rain cancels. You can also join our web forum and check the forum archives for the current information or contact Mark Sapiro at (415) 388-8910.

3 bridges with a bit of twist on the last 3 Bridges ride. We'll circumvent the Bay via Richmond - Golden Gate - Dumbarton Bridges; however, this time, we'll go Ocean front through SF. And after passing HWY 92, instead of the Bay Trail, we'll stay on the road Northbound "paralleling" HWY 580 and HWY 13.
The plan is to have 3 nutrition stops, including a lunch stop in Millbrae.
Please make sure you have the proper nutrition and ancillary cycling equipment appropriate for a 110-mile road ride.

Mary Ann Jawili will be keeping time for this ride so ride leader can ride the ITT. Thank you, MJ!
Come test and develop your cycling skills. For new club members, this is a good ride to find your pace as measured by GPC (see link below). For experienced and advanced riders, send it!
The first rider is off at 10:01 and a rider a minute after that. 20% chance of rain cancels. The ITT is the only GPC ride where you have to be a member of the Club (insurance reasons), but you can join or renew right there at the start for $20/year. Pre-registration is optional

This week we will ride a big loop starting at Miller Creek and going through Pt. Reyes Station (snack), Bear Valley, Olema, and Bolinas, where we stop for lunch. Then it is up the long, quiet climb of BoFax Road, down to Alpine Dam, and into Fairfax. Finish with the short steep climb over Fawn Drive. A bit shorter than our usual rides, but with enough hilliness to make up for it.
There is sometimes a faster (more like M pace) group on this ride, but we all come back together at frequent regroups and lunch. Arrive by the meeting time if you don't want to chase.

From our Marinwood start, we will ride to Nicasio, then past the the Cheese Factory, Hicks Valley, and over the Marshall Wall to Hwy 1. Lunch in Pt. Reyes Station before completing the loop.
Shorten the ride to about 42 miles by starting in Nicasio. We should pass through there about 10:20 or so.
Please pre-register if you can. There is sometimes a faster (more like M pace) group on this ride, but we all come back together at frequent regroups and lunch. We'll start when everyone who arrives by the meeting time is ready. If you arrive after the meeting time you may have to chase. You can probably catch us in Nicasio, where we will have a short regroup.

Come out and enjoy the spring evenings! We hope you will join us for a chill T-pace version of the traditional Thursday evening road ride! We'll go up Spruce to Grizzly Peak and Skyline, then turn right to head down Shepherd's Canyon and ride back through Montclair and via the Lake Temescal bike path. Lights and a jacket are recommended. We will have multiple regroups and stick to a T pace on this ride. >>This ride is a no drop ride<<
The route does include a steep (13%) 2-block section toward the end, but it's easy to avoid if anyone prefers.
