++ Diablo New Years Day Ride! ++
Hey all, save the date: January 1st I’ll be leading a ride to Diablo Summit, weather permitting. Domingo Peet’s 9 am for a 9:15 rollout. We’ll do Tunnel, Pinehurst, St. Mary’s to South Gate, up to the Summit and back via North Gate to Walnut Creek and back via Wildcat. I’m organizing this as a multi group ride with Berkeley Bicycle Club, Grizzly Peak Cyclists, Timeless Rollers and Anarchy, so multiple paces and groups available. Mark Abrahams will be leading a M pace group, Morgan of BBC will be leading a MB pace group and there may be a B pace as well. This will be a DROP ride so organize accordingly. There should be several pace groups and familiarity with the route is recommended. Feel free to message me directly for more details. And feel free to share the event info with anyone who might be interested. Heavy rain cancels. WEATHER UPDATE: looking good as of now, let's hope the forecast stays dry for this ride!

Meet at 12:30 pm
Start Location: North Berkeley BART
Pre-registration
New Year's Revolutions (NYR) rides are designed for people who are newer to cycling or who have been off their bikes for a bit. These rides are generally shorter and at an easier pace (LT = 9-10 MPH average on hilly rides / 11-12 MPH on flat rides). These rides are also no-drop, so you don't have to worry about being left behind!
Ride #1 will start from North Berkeley BART and ride to Point Richmond and back, mostly along the Bay Trail. No hills on this one!

GPC Route: Nicasio to Marshall
Start Location: Nicasio
Pre-registration
Hi everyone, weather permitting - we will do the standard counter-clockwise Marshall loop. We will meet at 10am in Nicasio and ride past the Cheese Factory and then up and over the Marshall Wall to Marshall for lunch. The Marshall store is not open on Wednesdays so bring your lunch to enjoy by Tomales Bay. Bring layers. Return via Highway 1 to Pt Reyes Station for treats and warm beverages before returning to Nicasio.
Watch for updates after seeing the morning forecasts.

Meet at 9:30 am
Start Location: San Rafael - Marinwood Community Center
Pre-registration
We'll ride through San Geronimo, Sam P Taylor, and Olema to Bear Valley Road and Limantour Beach. Bring a snack to eat at Limantour or pick something up in Olema. On the return, we will stop in Pt Reyes Station for a proper lunch, but that is after about 42 miles. There is quite a steep climb on the return from Limantour, hence the ! in the rating.
Here is the route on RideWithGPS.
Pre-registration is appreciated. There is sometimes a faster (more like M pace) group on this ride, but we all come back together at frequent regroups and lunch. Be at the start by the meeting time, or you may have to chase.

Please join us for a post-ride dinner tonight! We'll go out at the end of the ride to celebrate new year's and our South Park accomplishments so far. We have reservations at Barney's Burgers on Cedar, which has outdoor heaters and bike parking. Bring layers for warmth and extra lights for the ride home.
Please join us for a weekly Thursday evening ride. This is a short ride but with a steep climb! We’ll head up Virginia St and Spruce to Spruce/Grizzly Peak for our first regroup, then head out along Wildcat Canyon to South Park Rd. From there, we’ll climb South Park, descend, and climb it again as many times as the mood strikes us (usually two or three times is enough, but individual riders can shorten or lengthen the ride as desired). South Park is closed to cars starting November 1st, which makes it perfect for winter riding. If we complete two round trip ascents up South Park then back to N Berkeley Bart, expect about 2,300 feet of elevation gain. This is a great way to stay in shape over the winter!
NOTE: This is a night ride. Come with bright front and rear lights (and make sure they work). 20% chance or greater of rain cancels the ride. Please contact ride leaders with any questions.

Another nighttime trail ride, this one designed to avoid the worst of the mud. Let's ride up Seaview and see if we can catch a view of the bay light up at night before heading down Claremont to grab food in Berkeley. Some sections are steep and rocky. This should be mostly rideable on 35+mm gravel bike but there might be a few short bits of-hike a bike. There is light rain forecasted earlier in the day to expect the trails to be a bit damp in parts but hopefully it shouldn't be too bad. Ride ends at Nicks pizza, but depending on time when group size we might go with a different option. Make sure to bring lights bright enough to see by with enough charge to last for the full ride. It's going to be cold so good to pack some extra layers as well.
Rain cancels if it's still raining by 4:30pm or if there is a chance of rain in the forecast that evening.

The forecast predicts rain all night, clearing early tomorrow morning. Lets check at 8:00 tomorrow, if it’s still raining I will postpone the start. Either way we need to be prepared for very wet roads and storm debris.
weather looks good, the ride is on!!!
The forecast calls for sun this Sunday so let’s get out and enjoy it. Start At Castro Valley Bart, and get the hard climb done early. After Calaveras we’ll drop down “the wall” for lunch in Ed Levin park. Back along Foothill and the Dublin grade. Stops at Sunol out and back. There are a couple of minor hills at beginning of ride, but it is consistently flat once we are Lakeshore. A pdf of historical references will be provided! This Epic F(l)at ride, through walnut orchards, is a springtime favorite: not too hot, not too windy, not too hilly, just right. Let's see about winter in Winters.
There is an alternate route (700 ft more climbing and 5 miles longer).
Bathrooms and pay parking at ride start. I recommend setting up ParkMobile before the ride.
Lunch is available for purchase in Winters, but most riders bring their own.

Nicasio
Pre-registration
Hi everyone, weather permitting - we will do the standard counter-clockwise Marshall loop. We will meet at 10am in Nicasio and ride past the Cheese Factory and then up and over the Marshall Wall to Marshall for lunch. The Marshall store is not open on Wednesdays so bring your lunch to enjoy by Tomales Bay. Bring layers. Return via Highway 1 to Pt Reyes Station for treats and warm beverages before returning to Nicasio.
Watch for updates after seeing the morning forecasts.

There’s no food purchase at the lunch stop so bring your own or buy something in Sunol.

There are a couple of minor hills at beginning of ride, but it is consistently flat once we are Lakeshore. A pdf of historical references will be provided!
