Meet at 7:30 am
Mandatory pre-registration

Fun and difficult Central Valley century with a couple of hard climbs.

Starting on the first San Joaquins train of the day. Amtrak leaves Emeryville at 7:46 AM (also options for Jack London, Richmond, and Martinez).and gets to Modesto around 10 AM. See schedule here: https://d34tiw64n5z4oh.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/JPA17915_TimetableEdits_September_V2.pdf

Return from Merced at 7:23 PM, arrive back at Emeryville at around 10:30 PM. We will eat lunch at the top of Old Priest Grade at the cafe there. Given the time constraints, pace will likely be 20 mph on flat sections (depending on wind). We may also do some additional dirt (time permitting), though it should be all rideable on road tires

Old Priest Grade is around 13% for 2 miles, one of the steepest paved climbs in California. Make sure you have low enough gearing and good enough legs to do this

Please register if you want to join so we know to watch for others. There are options doing this ride by driving to Modesto too if you are interested in that.
