SAT NOV 18 5/M/105 Mount Hamilton loop from Pleasanton, counterclockwise
Leader: Mark Abrahams     (510) 524-1294
Meet at 7:00 am for a 7:05 am start   Rain Date: Sun Nov 19
Start Location: Pleasanton - Neal & Railroad Ave
Mandatory pre-registration
UPDATE:

Saturday's forecast is for rain. So we'll try for Sunday -- it looks good for now. We'll confirm on Saturday. Meanwhile, the route is now good for downloading.

With over 4000' of climbing from its base, panoramic views of the south bay and the hidden valleys of the Diablo range, historic observatory buildings at its summit, and passage through a number of distinctive plant communities, the Mt Hamilton loop is one of the fabled rides of the Bay Area.

The route: out Calaveras; up the frontside of Mt Hamilton; down the backside; San Antonio Valley and Mines Rd; return via the Livermore valley suburban/agricultural interface. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/44978477 (Don't download until after ~7pm on Friday because until then it is subject to minor debugging.)

Meet 07:00 ready to ride. Ready to ride means your bike is set up, you already went to the restroom, you're clicked in, and you're ready to pay attention and listen to ride announcements :-) The early start is to increase chances of finishing before sundown.

Public restrooms are available in the park one block south of the meeting place.

Refreshment stops at: 1. San Jose (Rotten Robbie gas station at Piedmont & Sierra Rds); 2. Mt Hamilton Observatory Visitor Center (vending machines, cash only); 3. Junction Bar & Grill (you can order food, but it can be slow; also now cash only under current mgmt).

Please bring: front and rear lights (just in case); ample food/fuel (just in case); your bike in excellent mechanical condition; ample clothing in layers (it will be cold-warm-cold); cash (see above); and a happy smile! This should not be your first century nor your first self-supported long ride.

Significant chance of rain triggers the rain date. Check back here for updates the evening before the ride.

If, in the course of performing volunteer service for Grizzly Peak Cyclists, I provide or develop any software, procedures, data, maps, cue-sheets, artwork, or other material in which I have any ownership or copyright rights, I grant to the club license to copy, modify, retain and use such material in perpetuity for its purposes without compensation either implicitly by this agreement or by any compatible explicit license. Such grant is not needed for presentations or writings intended for one-time use, such as meeting presentations or items sent to the newsletter.
